1. Over explaining why you lost your last job (Too negative)
  2. Failing to ask for the job
  3. Conveying that you’re not over it
  4. Lacking humor, warmth or personality
  5. Not showing enough interest or enthusiasm
  6. Inadequate research about potential employer (No preparation)
  7. Concentrating too much on what you want (Learn, Train up myself, Get something instead of contribute)
  8. Trying to be all things to all people (Be yourself!)
  9. “Winging” the interview (No preparation at all)
  10. Failing to set yourself apart from other candidates
  11. Don’t memorize the answers, just think about the points you have.
  12. Looking down on yourself.
  13. Arrive late.
  14. Overdress nor underdress. Do not use excessive perfume, make-up and wear a lot of jewelry.
  15. Chew gum, smoke or play with your jewelry/hair.
  16. Make excuses or blame schools, employers or fellow workers. If a past weakness or failure comes up, you can explain the situation, how you overcome it and what you have learned from it.
  17. Ask about the salary and benefits unless the interviewer brings them up.
  18. Ask for comments on your performance during the interview.
  19. Bring a friend or a relative with you.
